Lila is a dance artist and educator originally hailing from the state of Maine. Lila received her BA in Dance and Classical Latin from Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts, where she additionally completed her Public Education Teacher License for Dance K-12. She moved to Oregon in 2015 to pursue her Master of Fine Arts in Dance at the University of Oregon. During her time in graduate school, she was a Graduate Teaching Fellow in Dance and instructed over thirty undergraduate dance technique courses, including idioms such as ballroom, modern, jazz, Hip Hop, ballet, and Contact Improvisation.
Lila is active as a dancer and instructor of Country Western line and partner styles throughout the Eugene/Springfield area. She teaches classes for the Willamalane Adult Activity Center, Twisted Tumbleweeds Country Dancing, and The Keg Tavern. Additionally, Lila teaches throughout the area for artistic/performance dance styles, including modern/contemporary, lyrical jazz, and Bollywood, as well as instructing Willamalane courses in graphic design and technology.
Lila's research interests include touch-based dance partnering, the impact of social dance on communities, idiomatic fusion for performance and pedagogy, collaborative methodologies from classroom to stage, and the medium of screendance.
When she's not dancing, Lila enjoys camping, having friends over for a game night, or spending quality time with her partner, dog, and cat.
