Biography

Kwadwo Boakye is an assistant professor in the department of Public Health & Health Services Administration at California State University, Chico. Dr. Boakye is an environmental epidemiologist whose research focuses on understanding how environmental conditions (e.g., air pollution, transportation noise, climate variables), and the built environment (e.g., green space) influence a wide range of health outcomes. A large portion of his research uses geospatial methods to support evidence-based decision-making in health research. As an environmental epidemiologist, geospatial methods are powerful tools for public health, bringing additional context to public health data analysis and informing decision-making and policy, ultimately reducing the burden of adverse health outcomes. Visualizing the spatial distribution of populations in relation to adverse health outcomes or the patterns of diseases and incidence furthers our understanding of the disease burden and stimulates research and policy action.
