Research experience 2006-present:

I am a project coordinator in the School of Social and Behavioral Health Sciences where I manage a NCI-funded research project on the sources and impact of stigma for rural breast, prostate, and lung cancer survivors.

I am also a Consultant and Trainer for The LifeLine Group. My responsibilities include performing exposure assessments and training other professionals in the use of exposure assessment software.

In previous work I using exposure modeling software to estimate exposure to agricultural pesticides, in rural West African farmers. Using questionnaires and focus groups I examined health effects in people who were exposed to environmental contaminants.

Currently my research interests seek to understand the magnitude of exposure to the social determinants of health (SDH) – the conditions where people are born, grow, live, work and age – and the effects on individual and population health. An understanding of the SDH, particularly among the most vulnerable populations such as children, women, the elderly, refugees, and the incarcerated is critical if we are to reduce the disparities in health found in these population groups.
