Academic interests:

John is interested in identifying better biomarkers of food intake and identifying the role of the gut microbiome in driving inter-individual variation in metabolite generation and health outcomes following consumption of specific foods. His current work investigates the role of the gut microbiome in the production of isothiocyanates from broccoli sprouts. Additionally, he uses untargeted metabolomics coupled with stable isotope tracing to identify better biomarkers of cruciferous vegetable consumption. This research will build evidence supporting the use of dietary strategies to cancer prevention.
