Academic interests: 

Ian is a senior research administrator with over 20 years of experience in grants and contracts. He is excited about research and discovery, and enthused to help it succeed. He is taking on this brand-new position after stints in research administration at two other universities. Ian looks forward to the opportunity to support the faculty, staff, and students with post award issues, while also improving the effectiveness of the campus support offices.

Beyond OSU
Personal Interests: 

A year-round bicycle commuter who loves disc golf and travel as a participant, and live music, baseball and hockey as a spectator. Believes in being actively involved in the community, and has served as a public official and in multiple civic club leadership roles.

Biography

Ian was born on a US Air Force base in France, and served in the US Navy in San Diego and at Pearl Harbor. He has lived in three different countries and five other states, and has been in Oregon since 2012.   He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of North Texas, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. 

His higher education experience includes 5+ years as a Post Award Administrator in Sponsored Project Services at the University of Oregon, and 7 years as the fiscal officer for the College of Natural Resources at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point.  Ian has 15 additional years of accounting experience with software development, manufacturing and the defense industry.
