Gulaiim Almatkyzy

Academic interests

As a doctoral student, Gula's research focused broadly on preventing chronic diseases and reducing health disparities in marginalized, low-income, and racial/ethnic minority communities. At Oregon State University, she conducted collaborative research on cancer prevention (including screening and survivorship care) within Latinx communities and among college students.

Gula's PhD dissertation examined the influence of friends on human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination behavior among college-aged young adults. Her current research areas include improving cancer prevention, HPV vaccination uptake, reducing outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases, and improving oral health outcomes among Alaska Native communities.

Biography

Gulaiim is a social and behavioral health insights researcher. She graduated with my PhD in Health Promotion and Health Behavior in June 2023.

She has 5+ years of experience in conducting quantitative and qualitative research, starting from research question formulation, grant proposal writing, ethics submission, measurement development (Qualtrics surveys and interview and focus group guides) and evaluation, to data collection, analysis, technical and non-technical reports writing. She is a confident user of data management, processing, and analysis software such as SAS, STATA, R, SPSS, and MAXQDA, and have worked with both large and small datasets and relational databases (SQL).

She also facilitates online and in-person discussions and workshops, have expertise in curriculum development, project coordination, and program evaluation.
