From personal loss to global impact
When Dr. Sunday Adetunji lost two siblings to sickle cell disease and a cousin during childbirth, he made a promise to reduce preventable deaths. Today, the OSU epidemiology PhD candidate combines clinical experience with data science to redesign global healthcare systems and protect vulnerable mothers and babies.
Oregon teens step into worlds of fantasy, fandom and friendship at 4-H Questing Clovers Retreat
The Questing Clovers Retreat brings together Oregon teens who love gaming, cosplay and fantasy role-play in an inclusive 4-H camp environment. Participants in grades 7-12 explore creativity through workshops like Dungeons & Dragons, archery, potions and live-action role-playing.

Kinesiology student Jess Durham earned a NASM personal training certification scholarship to support her professional goals in fitness and wellness.

Jonathan Garcia named Core Ed Champion for innovative HIV/AIDS course
Associate Professor Jonathan Garcia was named a Core Ed Champion for his impactful course, H 256: Silence Equals Death — HIV Stigma to Global Social Movement, which uses storytelling and activism to connect personal and global responses to HIV/AIDS.
Human development and family sciences PhD student presented parenting styles research at SSHD 2025
HDFS doctoral student Mehwish Dawood shared research on parenting styles and child engagement at SSHD 2025, highlighting the role of family-teacher relationships in early learning.
