- Contact and Opportunities
We would like to invite you to participate to participate in an ergonomic measurement study conducted by Oregon State University. You are being recruited because of you fish for Dungeness crab. We have a research project to engage crab fishermen to prevent non-fatal injuries.
The project is titled Evaluating fishermen-led safety designs in the Dungeness Crab Fleet and is led by Drs. Jay Kim and Laurel Kincl.
We have an ergonomic sensor that can be attached to your chest and arms that can monitor your body position and motion over time. It should not interfere with your work. For this study we want you to wear this ergonomic sensor while you fish for one day. We are interested in the postures and motions of deckhands while they are harvesting crab.
Your participation is voluntary. We will record your motion while fishing, but your name nor vessel will not be identified specifically with the data collected.
You must be at least 21 years of age and work or are closely related with the Dungeness crab industry to participate.
To get more information about participating in this research project, please contact Amelia Vaughan at Amelia.Vaughan@oregonstate.edu.
