Oregon State’s kinesiology program explores the science of human movement, preparing you for careers in health, fitness, rehabilitation and health professions.
With a degree in kinesiology, you can pursue roles in athletic training, physical therapy, occupational therapy, exercise physiology and other health-related fields.
Kinesiology degree options:
- Kinesiology (General Option) – Gain a broad foundation in human movement, exercise science and physical activity for careers in health and well-being.

Kinesiology General Option
Advance health through movement
If you are passionate about exercise, fitness and human movement, the Kinesiology General Option provides a strong foundation in biomechanics, exercise physiology and motor behavior.
This option emphasizes evidence-based practices to enhance physical performance, prevent injuries and improve overall well-being.
You’ll be prepared for careers in health promotion, personal training, coaching and research.

Pre-Therapy and Allied Health Option
Prepare for careers in rehabilitation and health care
If you're preparing for a career in athletic training, medicine, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, physician assistant/associate, or other health profession, the Kinesiology PTAH Option equips you with the coursework and hands-on experience needed for graduate study.
You'll take specialized courses in anatomy, physiology and human movement while gaining real-world experience through internships and research opportunities.
This option meets all the prerequisites for Oregon State's Master in Athletic Training and Doctor of Physical Therapy programs.
