What inspired or interested you about your field of study? And why did you choose OSU?
What interests me most about health systems and policy is how diverse the field is. You can take any aspect of life, such as housing or food security, and see how it influences health systems and policy. I chose OSU because of the amazing faculty and welcoming community.
What was your main internship project?
My main project focused on food insecurity in Benton County. I developed a comprehensive survey that was sent to all identifiable food pantries in the county, then conducted a qualitative analysis of the responses to identify recurring themes and trends.
By identifying common patterns, it becomes easier to develop programs and policies to address these issues.
What have you learned the most during your internship?
What I learned most in my internship is how important it is to engage with and build partnerships in,, the local community. I also learned how essential it is to practice active listening and cultural competency.
What do you think of your experience at OSU so far? Any stand-out experiences?
I love OSU so far. The best experience has been meeting my cohort, who have become some of my greatest friends.
