What inspired or interested you about your field of study? And why did you choose OSU/the college?

What interested me about my field of study is the wide selection of services I can provide to those in need. This study opened up endless possibilities for me to work with different populations by providing support through a variety of services. What inspired me about HDFS was the ability to become a person of support to those who would benefit from additional support services.

What are you doing in your internship and/or what is your main project?

My two main projects in my internship were connecting with students through student check-ins: noting their academic progress throughout the term, observing students' tutoring sessions, and scheduling activities and events for the students to connect with the OSU campus. My other project involved inputting entrance exams and exit forms into their student's folders.

What are your post-college dreams/plans?

My post-college dreams include serving migrant students in an academic setting. I want to be a guide and a support system for Latino students to achieve and attain academic success. I would also like to work with migrant farm working families as I am a migrant student myself and would like to give back to my community.

What do you think of your experience at OSU and in the college so far? Any stand-out experiences?

My experience at OSU has been full of amazing support from my academic advisors and TRIO SSS counselors. OSU has also provided me with opportunities to prepare me after I graduate such as internships, workshops and career fairs.

Have you received a scholarship? If so, how has it affected your life and your studies?

I received the Ray Scholarship, Ed & Beth/AC. This scholarship affected my life and studies by allowing me to continue to strive for a college education while not having to worry about my financial situation. This scholarship helped me focus on my studies and reinforce my self-confidence in achieving academic success.
