What inspired or interested you about your field of study? And why did you choose OSU/the college?
I love physical activity and the opportunity to help others. Putting those two things together as a career is a dream come true for me.
What are you doing in your internship and/or what is your main project?
My goal is to learn how to successfully train clients to reach their goals. This entails shadowing trainers and learning how they successfully help their clients.
What do you see as the greatest value of your internship? Or, what have you learned the most in your internship?
The greatest value of this internship is getting to be a sponge for knowledge and learning how to be great in a field from others who are already successful. I believe internships are unrivaled in their ability to get hands-on experience that you normally wouldn’t get by just attending classes.
What do you think of your experience at OSU/in the college so far? Any stand-out experiences?
OSU, especially the College of Health, has been outstanding in giving me resources and great professors who have helped me reach my academic and career goals. I have been amazed by the help I’ve received from Dee Gillen, who has been a great mentor to me since I met her and asked her to help me extend myself into the field of kinesiology.
Have you received a scholarship? If so, how has it affected your life and your studies?
I have received scholarships and they have been so helpful to me and my family. They take a lot of financial stress out of my life which helps me stay focused on my career and academics.
What are your post-college dreams/plans?
I want to become a personal trainer and a strength and conditioning coach for young athletes.
