What inspired or interested you about your field of study? And why did you choose OSU/the college?
What interested me about physical therapy is being able to provide guidance and education to others healing their bodies after an injury, managing their chronic conditions, or working toward their goals with respect to their functional abilities. I chose this program because I wanted to help develop the culture and experiences of growth for those in my cohort and future ones to come.
What are you doing in your internship and/or what is your main project?
I am providing physical therapy services to the diverse communities of the Portland metro area, where I am leading plans of care that often consider education around chronic pain and management of multiple orthopedic diagnoses. I am also working alongside two great physical therapists who have been in the field for a while. I have been developing my clinical approaches through their guidance and feedback!
What do you see as the greatest value of your internship? Or, what have you learned the most in your internship?
The greatest value of working at Legacy has been providing services that are person-first and education-based driven. I have had very meaningful connections with my patients and have learned a lot about how to approach education that is personable and easily attainable.
What do you think of your experience at OSU/in the college so far? Any stand-out experiences?
I have loved my experiences during my time in the DPT program. I appreciate the education around leading through the biopsychosocial model. It has helped me consider the person as a whole when providing my services during clinicals.
What are your post-college dreams/plans?
I am caught between working in the outpatient pediatric or outpatient ortho setting; they both are settings I have enjoyed working in during my program. I hope to continue providing services to underserved communities through events and programs that educate about rehabilitation in an affordable and sustainable manner. I also plan on spending more free time with my family!
