Hallie E. Ford Center Director Megan McClelland and colleagues publish new research on early childhood development
Megan McClelland, Katherine E. Smith Healthy Children and Families professor and the director of the Hallie E. Ford Center for Healthy Children and Families, has co-authored two new research papers on early childhood development. The first, published in the Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, examines the role of play complexity in self-regulation among preschool children in Poland.
The second paper, first-authored by former human development and family sciences doctoral student Ahmad Ahmadi and published in Early Education and Development, explores relationships between executive functions, child characteristics, parental education and academic skills in a cross-cultural study of young children in Iran and the United States. Co-authors from the College of Health include Megan, HDFS associate professors John Geldhof, David Rothwell and Bridget Hatfield. David also holds the Barbara E. Knudson Endowed Chair in Family Policy.
