Human development and family sciences PhD student presented parenting styles research at SSHD 2025

Mehwish Dawood, a doctoral student in human development and family sciences, presented a poster titled Parenting Styles and Child Engagement: The Moderating Role of Family-Teacher Relationship Quality at the Society for Research in Human Development (SSHD) 2025 conference.

The study explores how family-teacher relationships influence the link between parenting styles and children’s engagement in early learning environments — a critical but understudied area in child development research.

This project was co-authored with Shannon Lipscomb, HDFS associate professor and associate dean of research at OSU-Cascades; John Geldhof, HDFS associate professor; and Brooke Diaz, an HDFS doctoral student.
