College of Health faculty contribute to 'Positive Youth Development' book

Several College of Health faculty are authors of a forthcoming volume titled Positive Youth Development: Integrating Research and Practice, co-edited with Theresa Ferrari at Ohio State University.

Mary Arnold, professor in human development and family sciences and 4-H youth development specialist, co-edited the book and contributed a chapter. “Theresa and I longed for a textbook for youth development practitioners and students that was solidly grounded in research but written to a lay audience with direct application to youth development practice,” she said. “In the end, we decided to do it ourselves!”

Additional Oregon State contributors from the human development and family sciences program include:

  • Shauna Tominey, HDFS associate professor of practice and statewide specialist in early childhood education
  • Jey Blodgett, HDFS postdoctoral scholar
  • Linda Fenske, HDFS instructor
  • Asia Thogmartin, HDFS research associate
  • Jasmine Tua Karing, HDFS researcher

This collaborative effort reflects OSU’s leadership in advancing research-informed practices for youth development professionals.

The researchers and scholars who contributed to the volume did a brilliant job writing in this style, and the volume has received glowing reviews throughout the editorial process. Those authors include Shauna Tominey, Jey Blodgett, Linda Fenske, Asia Thogmartin and Jasmine Tua Karing."
