The Oregon State kinesiology graduate program offers Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Master of Science (MS) degree programs.
Master's degree in Kinesiology
In the master's degree in kinesiology, you'll incorporate the sciences — including anatomy, physiology, sociology and psychology — when looking at the effect of movement on the body.
Doctorate in Kinesiology
In the kinesiology PhD program, you’ll focus on the theoretical and practical study of human movement for the promotion of optimal health and disease prevention.

Kinesiology research
As a student in the kinesiology graduate program, you will collaborate with world-class faculty members on interdisciplinary research. Faculty study a broad range of areas, including:
- Molecular and cellular basis of metabolic disease and lifestyle interventions
- Movement in children with disability
- Improving access to play, sport and physical activity in children and adolescents
- Exercise energy metabolism, athletic performance and body composition
- Biomechanics and motor control
- Bone health and reducing fractures
- Sports injury prevention
Graduate assistantships are available in teaching and research to highly qualified candidates.
Annual support ranges from $9,595-$22,176 and includes a tuition waiver.

Kinesiology PhD student
Kyle is pursuing a PhD in kinesiology and is studying the effects of preparation time and strength on agility performance. He received a Challenge Scholarship from the National Strength and Conditioning Association Foundation.
Choose your area of concentration
Biophysical kinesiology
Includes disciplines such as biomechanics, exercise science and/or motor control.
Psychosocial kinesiology
Includes disciplines such as motor development, sport and exercise psychology and/or sociology of sport.
