Michael’s research focuses on examining the personal, social, and environmental determinants of health supportive behaviors. As a researcher, Michael aims to identify and describe nutrition and physical activity messages in influential mediums, such as television, to understand how these portrayals may reflect or advance social normative behaviors and beliefs. Currently, Michael is examining the content, context, and communication of family meals among highly rated, family-centric television and streaming shows.
