Luanne joined the Office of Student Success in College of Health in November 2024. As the Scholarship Program Coordinator, she believes in supporting students holistically—recognizing that students need more than just academic support to thrive. Luanne's responsibilities will consist of overseeing the College of Health's scholarship funds and programs to best serve all COH students and generous donors. Understanding that mentorship, emotional guidance, and financial assistance are essential to student success, her ultimate goal is to connect students to the resources and opportunities they need to achieve their college dream.
As a passionate advocate for students, Luanne is committed to creating inclusive and accessible opportunities that promote access, equity, and success for all students. Her approach blends professional expertise with deep empathy, always striving to build supportive communities where students feel seen, heard, and valued.
Biography
Luanne is a dedicated educational professional, community advocate, and first-generation Latina who has spent her life serving students and communities of Oregon. Born and raised in Dallas, Oregon, her journey has been shaped by her personal experiences as a member of a historically underrepresented community, and she has made it her life's work to support and empower other first-generation, low-income, and BIPOC students.
Luanne's academic path reflects both her passion for community service and her commitment to lifelong learning. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Community Health and Sociology, with an emphasis on Community Service, and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Western Oregon University. Her deep interest in education and leadership led her to pursue a Master of Science in Educational Leadership & Policy from Portland State University in 2019. Luanne is also currently working toward her Master's in Counseling, further expanding her expertise in supporting students' health and well-being.
Throughout her career, Luanne has gained valuable experience in several areas, including recruitment, advising, event coordination, and programming. She has worked in various roles that center on helping students navigate their academic and personal journeys, with a special focus DEIA. Her work is rooted in a strong belief in the power of education as a tool for social change and empowerment.
