We  appreciate Dr. Hemilä’s correspondence regarding our investigation that examined oxidative stress and ascorbic acid supplementation on vitamin E pharmacokinetics in nonsmokers and smokers. Dr. Hemilä conveys a timely and important question regarding the use of vitamin E pharmacokinetics as a surrogate biomarker of dietary requirements.
