Community Participation and Assurance of Access to Reproductive Health Services/Linn County Public Health. During my internship experience I helped develop an assessment plan for the Reproductive Health Program around accessibility of services with a focus on identifying gaps and barriers to services for vulnerable communities in Linn County. Secondly, I helped to start the process of connecting with teachers and staff at two high schools in the county. The aim was to develop collaborations between the health department and Linn County schools to support sexual health education curriculum based on identified needs.
My professional plan is continue working toward reducing health disparities by addressing access to programs and services among vulnerable communities. My hope is to continue working in programs that target access to services. Additionally, I plan to continue parenting my two children and be a role model for them in the future.
During my first class, "H 513 Integrative Approach to Public Health," the first thing I noticed was that the room was very diverse, and I loved to see people from different backgrounds in one place and excited about expanding their knowledge in public health like I was.
