Dissertation Title: "Regulation of skeletal muscle insulin action and fatty acid trafficking with obesity and exercise." Summary: My dissertation utilized model systems and a human clinical trial to investigate the effects of acute exercise, exercise training, and diet induced obesity on skeletal muscle fat metabolism and insulin sensitivity.

Professional / academic / life plans after graduation: 

I will be starting a post doctoral fellowship at the University of Kansas Medical Center where I will be working with Dr. John Thyfault.

Favorite memory of being a graduate student at Oregon State: 

Being able to work with my mentors and my lab cohort Sarah Ehrlicher to start the Translational Metabolism Research Lab.

Impactful faculty mentorship: 

My mentors, Drs. Sean Newsom and Matt Robinson, have been such a major positive impact on my development as both a scientist and a person. I will always value my experiences working with them.
