I participated in the Botswana Global Learning Internship Program as a student researcher focusing on the global dimensions of disability. This internship took place in Maunatlala, Botswana during the summer of 2019. We engaged diverse stakeholders to evaluate the special education program and clinic for level of services offered to individuals with disabilities and examined how perceptions of community members towards those with disabilities impact health disparities.
After graduation, I will start the Ph.D. program in Public Health (Concentration: Global Health). I plan to continue my education and research related to the global dimensions of disability.
My favorite memory of my time here at OSU was growing so close to my Global Health Cohort and our weekly trivia nights!
Before entering this program, I knew I wanted to work in some capacity with kids and adults with disabilities, but I was not sure how. Together, Dr. Tammy Bray, Dr. Sunil Khanna, and Dr. Megan MacDonald showed me how to turn my passion into a meaningful career that could pave the way for one of the most marginalized and overlooked populations globally. I can't thank you three enough for helping me find that direction!
