Ask Tia Rae about the Oregon State MPH program.
I have played water polo for 13 years, so the sport is my main hobby (and honestly the love of my life). Other than that, I enjoy writing poetry and watching horror films, even though I always watch through my fingers.
I completed my undergraduate degree in geography from Oregon State in 2020. My professor recommended me to the program and after researching the program here I decided I wanted to pursue my MPH here because of the interdisciplinary curriculum and welcoming staff and faculty.
Even though my cohort has started this program during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have all been very connected via group chat. It is so heartening to feel that connection, and it is more significant knowing that it isn't as easy online as it is in person.
Research your schools! The program material is just as important as the faculty, staff and support resources the school offers. Just be sure to find a school that has a culture you enjoy and thrive in. And, make sure that you are ready for the commitment that an MPH brings. It is tough, but if you are willing to accept that the benefits will be great.
I would tell them that it is an enlightening and challenging experience. And, for both of those reasons, it is worth pursuing. You'll learn how to be a more well-rounded, thoughtful, and curious person in this world.
