H407 and H410
in
H407: Pre-Internship Seminar
The purpose of H407 is to prepare Public Health students (Health Management and Policy majors, Environment, Safety and Health minors or Health Promotion and Health Behavior majors) for their internship, H410. H407 is a class that meets once a week throughout the 10 week term and it is offered every term. Students are required to register for H407 at least one to two terms prior to enrolling in H410.
Prerequisites for H407:
- Health Promotion and Health Behavior: H225 and H320 need to be completed before registering for H407
- Health Management and Policy: H436 needs to be completed before registering for H407
- Environment, Safety and Health: Junior Standing
H407 Content and Structure
H407 provides information on how to identify and secure an internship site. If you know where you want to do your internship, H407 provides additional information on how to develop effective resumes, cover letters and interview tips. It also covers the internship guidelines and requirements. If you do not know where you want to do your internship, H407 provides a list of suggested sites, invites guest speakers in who are currently looking for interns, and provides additional input, suggestions about locating an appropriate site. H410: Public Health Internship
Prerequisites for H410:
- Health Management and Policy: H407 and H436
- Health Promotion and Health Behavior: H407, H320, H225, H449, H476

- Environment, Safety and Health: H407
An internship in Public Health provides a way for a student to earn academic credit for experience and certain work completed for a community organization, business, governmental agency, or other organization. The College of Public Health and Human Sciences enters into agreements with selected agencies and organizations in both the public and private sectors to facilitate this important linkage in professional development. Throughout the internship experience, you are able to gain skills and knowledge regarding your career interests and goals.
