Advising Appointments | Current Undergraduate
Meeting with an Adviser
Students may schedule an appointment by phoning the PHHS Advising Office, (541) 737-8900, or stopping by the office in Milam 116. If you are unable to keep your appointment, please call to cancel so that another student may be accommodated.
Students should meet at least once a year with an adviser to go over their academic progress while attending the university. The College of Public Health and Human Sciences provides centralized advising. There are eight professional advisers available on an appointment basis to assist you as well as Peer Advisers. Each adviser has a department focus for advising, and students are not assigned to a particular adviser. All appointments are 30 minutes in length.
During the advising appointment the adviser will review the student’s progress and help plan future classes towards the degree they are seeking. The advising effort is one of mutual respect and collaboration between you and your adviser.
Plan ahead when scheduling your appointment with an adviser. Give yourself ample time before your registration date to meet with an adviser.
Advisers are restricted by Federal Law (FERPA) from releasing any information about a student’s class schedule, grades, transcripts, advising checklist, or other specific information to anyone without written permission from the student. A Consent for Student Release of Information form (pdf) may be obtained through the Advising Office. This form must be in the student’s file to allow any information to be released. Other resources would be the Office of the Registrar at 541-737-4331.
