Sara Parker holds an MFA in Modern Dance from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City where she was awarded a Graduate Teaching Assistantship (2012-2015) as well as the Dee Winterton award (2015). Additionally, she holds a B.S. in Dance from the University of Oregon in Eugene, OR.
As a movement artist and educator, Sara currently teaches dance and yoga in the PAC program at OSU. Additionally, Sara teaches dance and serves as Co-Director of Programs at Conduit Dance Inc. in Portland OR. She has also worked with students at the University of Utah, teaching modern dance technique, hip hop, yoga, dance composition, improvisation, and dance appreciation courses in the Ballet and Modern Dance Departments. At the "U," Sara also coordinated outreach and performed in the Performing Dance Company (PDC), and was a choreographic advisor for undergraduate students.
Certified in yoga, Sara is interested in the body and mind connection, utilizing the power of dance and yoga to bring one into the present moment. Her recent creativework and classes are influenced by the esoteric anatomy and philosophical belief systems of yoga, as well as myth and ritual.
Sara's choreographic work has appeared at The Hult Center (OR), Lincoln Performance Hall (OR), Conduit Dance Inc. (OR), Northwest Dance Project Studio and Performance Center (OR), Mariott Center for Dance (UT), Mudson (UT), and the Ladies Literary Club (UT).
Sara hopes to make a positive impact through choreography, performance, and teaching.
