Her expertise is aging issues among American Indians, with extensive experience conducting collaborative research with rural and American Indian communities.

Biography

R. Turner Goins completed her MS and PhD in Gerontology from the University of Massachusetts Boston and a post doctoral research fellowship in Gerontology and Epidemiology at Duke University Medical Center.  She spent 13 years as a faculty member in the Department of Community Medicine and the Center on Aging at West Virginia University's School of Medicine. Turner is one of our new bridge faculty – bridging HDFS and Health Policy.  She will be teaching courses in public health and aging and community-based participatory research.
