City of Corvallis, Willamette Valley, Oregon and the Pacific Northwest are full of attractions for visitors of all ages. We encourage you to spend extra days at your own convenience to visit the area.
Early October is arguably one of the most beautiful times of year in Oregon. Many people think of rain when they think of the Willamette Valley, but if you Google images of ‘early October in the Willamette Valley’ you will find countless pictures of orange and red foliage backlit by beautiful fall sunshine. That said, you should probably pack your rain coat, just in case!
The average October temperature during the day ranges from upper 60s to mid 70s (Fahrenheit), with the evening dropping to the upper 40s. Layers are always best at this time of year. You will likely want a short-sleeve shirt and light pants during the daytime, with a long sleeve or sweater to cover up as the sun descends west. And a rain coat, just in case!
As for footwear, comfortable and water resistant is best – but being early fall, you may also get away with sandals. Don’t forget your running/walking/strolling shoes and athletic gear. The Corvallis area offers several miles of dirt and paved trails that should not be missed during your time here.
It’s also important to note that people tend to dress fairly casual in Corvallis. Business casual is recommended for the conference, but around town, you’ll find that a pair of jeans and a fleece jacket or vest is the norm. And, if you didn’t catch the note earlier, bring a rain coat, just in case!
