The Interior Design major prepares students for careers in Interior Design, including both commercial and residential interior design and for careers related to housing policy, management and real estate.

Interior Design major is a Professional Program. Entering students are designated as pre-professional majors. After completing at least 45 credits, students apply for acceptance into the Professional Program and into one (or both) of the options.

  • The Interior Design option offers the opportunity to focus on commercial design with an emphasis on space planning, heating and lighting plans and interior construction specifications.
  • The Housing Studies option offers students the opportunity to focus on residential design, universal design, housing policy and real estate.

Interior Design is a Professional Program with competitive admission. For specific course requirements within the major, see the OSU General Catalog.   

You will begin with a foundation in light frame construction, space planning and design communication.  You will then specialize in either Interior Design or Housing Studies. 

This major has a wireless laptop requirement.
