Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR)
in
Dietetic Technicians, Registered (DTRs) often work in clinical, long term care, or food service management as assistants to the Registered Dietitian or food service management staff. Students working toward future application to a dietetic internship may find this credential valuable as a stepping stone before applying for an internship.
Beginning in 2009, the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) will allow students who graduate from an accredited program in dietetics to take the DTR exam. A program verification statement from your DPD program is required. DPD students and former graduates will find more information about the application process for DTR certification from the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
