Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE)

Our Master of Athletic Training program is CAATE accredited.

From 1974 to 2017 Oregon State had an accredited undergraduate athletic training program. In the summer of 2016, the first cohort of students started in the new professional master’s program in athletic training. The new master’s program was granted accreditation by CAATE in the summer of 2017.

The CAATE is the agency responsible for the accreditation of more than 260 professional (entry-level) Athletic Training programs, 7 Post-Professional Degree Programs and 12 Residencies.

The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) and the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, Inc. (NATA) cooperate to sponsor the CAATE and to collaboratively develop the Standards for Entry-Level Athletic Training Educational Programs.

Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP)

Our Master of Adapted Physical Education program is CAEP accredited.

Educator accreditation is a seal of approval that assures quality in educator preparation. Accreditation makes sure that educator programs prepare new teachers to know their subjects, their students, and have the clinical training that allows them to enter the classroom ready to teach effectively.

CAEP Accreditation provides a framework that has pushed educator preparation programs to continually self-assess and conduct evidence-based analysis of their programs and their efficacy. These evidence-based shifts, rooted in continuous improvement, are helping to ensure that preparation programs are more likely to produce successful educators.

Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC)

Our Master of Adapted Physical Education program is licensed by the TSPC of Oregon.

Oregon’s system of Educator Licensure is designed to create a career pathway for Oregon’s PreK-12 teachers, school administrators, school counselors, school psychologists and school social workers that aligns with the needs of students in grades PreK-12.

Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND®)

Our BS-Nutrition Dietetic option and Dietetic Internship programs are accredited by ACEND.

The Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND®) is an autonomous accrediting agency for education programs preparing students to begin careers as registered dietitians or dietetic technicians, registered. Programs meeting the ACEND Accreditation Standards are accredited by ACEND®.

Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE)

Our Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program at OSU-Cascades has been granted Candidate for Accreditation status by CAPTE.

Effective July 13, 2021, Oregon State University - Cascades has been granted Candidate for Accreditation status by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education. The DPT program will be evaluated for full-accreditation status in the third year of the first cohort (2023/2024).

Accreditation is anticipated to be received the spring of 2024 prior to graduation of the first cohort which will be June 2024.  Based on Rule 7.2, graduates of the first cohort will be able to take the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE) as early as July 2024.

National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)

Our Child Development Center is NAEYC accredited.

The NAEYC is a professional membership organization that works to promote high-quality early learning for all young children, birth through age 8, by connecting early childhood practice, policy, and research.
